Навчальний медичний словник: базові принципи та структура (на матеріалі англомовної медичної термінології)

Abstract

Дослідження проведено в рамках LSP (language for specific purposes) лексикографії, а саме англомовної медичної термінографії. Мета статті полягає в розробці базових принципів навчального медичного словника та передбачає вирішення низки завдань: вивчення досвіду у сфері теоретичної й практичної лексикографії, окреслення проблем англомовної медичної термінології, розробка системи відбору термінів і структури англомовного навчального медичного словника. Об’єктом дослідження є англомовна медична термінографія, а предметом – принципи укладання англомовного медичного навчального словника. Для досягнення мети було застосовано комплексну методологію: аналітичний огляд теоретичної літератури, виданої в рамках англомовної медичної термінології та науково-практичної термінографії; метод лексикографічного аналізу – для розробки структури словника; метод критичного аналізу – для вивчення особливостей укладання словника; зіставний метод – для узагальнення отриманих даних. Наукова новизна дослідження полягає в тому, що в статті вперше досліджено проблеми термінографічної реєстрації англомовного медичного терміна з екстраполяцією на методи й підходи, що застосовуються під час кодифікації медичного концепту в навчальному словнику. У статті вивчено досвід укладання навчальних словників, запропоновано основні принципи композиції словника. Розроблено систему відбору термінів, які можуть бути включені до словника, з урахуванням рівня володіння студентами англійською мовою та фаховою термінологією. Результати дослідження засвідчили, що під час розробки базових принципів створення навчального медичного словника необхідно враховувати особливості медичної термінологічної системи (включаючи грецьку, латинську й англійську мови) і системні відносини всередині неї, а також досвід, накопичений у медичній термінографії та загальній лексикографії. Дефініція, яка буде уведена до складу словника, має включати і лінгвістичні, й енциклопедичні параметри, що сприятиме системному розумінню медичного терміна користувачем, беручи до уваги такі особливості медичної термінології, як етимологія і багатозначність терміна, наявність синонімії, абревіатур, епонімів, скорочень та неологізмів. Враховуючи увесь комплекс вимог, до робочих груп, які будуть працювати над створенням навчальних словників таких типів, мають бути залучені як лінгвісти, так і спеціалісти різних галузей медицини. На деяких етапах необхідною буде й допомога програмістів. The work was conducted within the framework of LSP (language for specific purposes) lexicography, English medical terminography. The purpose of the article is to work out the basic principles of learner`s medical dictionary. The tasks of the research are to study the experience in the field of theoretical and practical lexicography, to outline the problems of English medical terminology, to develop a system of selection of terms and structure of English learner`s medical dictionary. The object of the study is English medical terminography and the subject is the principles of compiling English medical learner`s dictionary. To achieve this purpose, a comprehensive methodology was applied: an analytical review of theoretical literature published in the framework of the English medical terminography, scientific and practical terminology; the method of lexicographic analysis was employed to work out a dictionary structure; the method of critical analysis was used to study the features of dictionary compilation; the comparative method was applied to summarize the data obtained. The scientific novelty of the study is that the article first explores the problems of terminographic registration of English medical term with the extrapolation to methods and approaches used in the codification of the medical concept in a learner`s dictionary. The article examines the experience of learner`s dictionaries compilation, proposes the basic principles of the dictionary composition. Taking into account students’ level of proficiency in English and special terminology, the system for selecting terms into the dictionary has been developed. The results of the study have shown that the development of basic principles for the creation of learner`s medical dictionary should consider the peculiarities of medical terminology system (including Greek, Latin and English) and the systematic relationships within it, as well as the experience gained in medical terminography and general lexicography. The definition should include both linguistic and encyclopaedic parameters, it will facilitate the systematic understanding of a medical term by users, taking into account such features of medical terminology as etymology and polysemy of the term, synonymy, abbreviations, eponyms and neologisms. In view of the suggested range of requirements, linguists as well as specialists in various fields of medicine should be involved into the groups that will work at the creation of such types of learner`s dictionaries. At some stages, the assistance of programmers will be necessary.
