The article deals with the role of music education in shaping the educational systems of the ancient world, particularly in Ancient Greece and Rome. Music has played a crucial role in human life for millennia, serving as a universal language understood intuitively by people across cultures. From its early origins, music has been intertwined with the social aspects of various societies, influencing societal progress and contributing to educational and systematic processes that have become integral to pedagogy. The study aims to highlight the features of ancient music pedagogy. Thus, the authors have applied the following research methods: systematization of scientific and pedagogical references; analysis, synthesis, and generalization of information obtained from these references; historical method highlights the evolution of music from its early forms to ancient times; comparative method compares the musical traditions of different cultures and eras, such as Greek and Roman musical practices; analytical method determines the role of music in various societies and its significance for communication, social rituals, and the educational process. The article explores how music, starting from primitive imitations of natural sounds, evolved into a sophisticated field of study integrated with mathematics and philosophy. This development led to the establishment of musical schools and educational institutions that laid the foundation for modern musical education. The research focuses on the works of prominent philosophers, theorists, and poets such as Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, and Quintilian, who developed concepts of musical pedagogy that integrate aesthetic, moral, and mathematical aspects. Thus, Pythagoras viewed music through a mathematical lens, while Plato integrated music into moral and philosophical education, and Aristotle saw it as essential for emotional development. In Rome, Quintilian included music in rhetorical education, recognizing its role in enhancing oratorical skills. The study concludes that the evolution of music, from primitive imitation to its philosophical and practical applications, demonstrates its profound impact on human skills and societal norms. The integration of music theory with mathematics and philosophy in ancient education highlights its role in developing communication and emotional intelligence, reflecting its enduring significance throughout history. Future research could highlight the music education of the USA, which has a rich and diverse history, reflecting the cultural, social, and historical changes of the country. Special attention should be given to the development of music among the populations of North America and the colonizers of the USA.uk_UK
